I am honored to be named President of the Armed Forces Tickets Association -Cincinnati (AFTA-C). AFTA is an organization whose mission is to show gratitude to active military men, women and their families by making available free or deeply discounted tickets for the Fine Arts (Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Ballet, etc.); Sporting Events (Bengals, Reds, FC Cincinnati and local Universities); Entertainment Events (Concerts at Heritage Bank Center or Truist Arena) and Community Events (Sleepovers at the Zoo, AFTA Annual Bike Giveaway, etc.). We sponsor an annual bike giveaway event each June where we buy new bikes and gift cards for helmets and accessories for the children in active military families.
My father was in the Navy during WWII and was proud to play a role in stopping Hitler and freeing the Jewish people. He often talked about his experiences during that time and how the ship he was on was named “The Lucky L” which almost went down many times, yet they survived. He was proud of what they were able to accomplish and talked about how families back home at the time struggled financially. When Joyce Elkus, founder of AFTA-Cincinnati, asked me to join the board ten years ago, I saw it as a chance to give back to the families who help keep our country safe.
If you have any questions or feedback about how AFTA-Cincinnati can help your family enjoy great events in Cincinnati – please let me know.
We received feedback that many of you are interested in going to the FC soccer games and we purchased tickets for several of the games including the last game of their season on October 5, 2024, which was Military Appreciation night for AFTA-Cincinnati.
