AFTA -Cincinnati and the Enterprise Holdings Foundation had perfect weather when they joined together on Saturday, June 4, 2022 to distribute 80 bicycles to children of Active Military, Guard, Reserves, Retired Military and Veterans a families at the WalMart SuperCenter on Redbank Road in Cincinnati. This event was made possible by the generous grant we received from The Enterprise Foundation. This event was also made possible with grants from the Haile Foundation and private donors. Thank you to all of the Sponsors, Volunteers and Families/Kids attending this event!
Participating in this event was The Cincinnati Ice Cream Truck and representatives from the Fairfax Police Department. Officers Aaron McLearen and Jason Flynn provided informational materials, pens, cups and miscellaneous promotional items to all the military families attending. Near the end of the event, a military family was struggling with loading their children's bicycles into their car, when Aaron and Jason came to their rescue and purchased them a bike rake for the bake of the car. They even installed it on the car themselves so the family could take the bikes home safely. This act of kindness reminds us all that the Police Departments in our cities and across our nation really do care about serving their communities. AFTA-Cincinnati provided water and snacks for the families, as well as Walmart gift cards for purchasing helmets or other bike accessories for the children receiving bikes. The Cincinnati Ice Cream truck was on hand to give out free ice creams to all attendees.
