Welcome to Dr. Susan Lang who is joining the AFTA-Cincinnati Board of Directors in 2024.
Dr. Lang served as a superintendent in three Ohio school districts during a span of 18 years. In 2017, she was honored to be recognized as “Superintendent of the Year in Ohio.” Prior to her administrator’s role in education, she worked in the private sector selling technology to the education market. Her expertise in educational technology was a catalyst to return to the field of education and apply her skills. Following her retirement (August 2019) from Wyoming City Schools located in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was appointed the President of K-12 Education.
NewsBank is an information company which licenses content from publishers both national and international. Through an extraordinary effort, dedication to educational research and in her opinion significant gaps in curriculum needs, the company decided three years ago to develop a U.S. History product for high school students. Dr. Lang’s vision was to engage students, using Newsbank resources, with current topics and lead them to our historical content, to understand and have knowledge of our country’s rich history. As the President of K12 Education, she knew the need of engagement with students and the understanding of our country’s historical events. Respecting the rich history of our country is critical for students to learn and appreciate.
My interest in AFTA is to foster more awareness to those who have served our country. Their service and dedication for our country in preserving our heritage is most valued. I believe in supporting efforts for veteran families to enjoy Cincinnati’s rich arts, athletics, and performance events is an important mission for myself and others.
