The American Sign Museum takes you through a half-century of sign history, beginning with the elegant goldleaf glass signs of the early 1900s, through the pre-neon ear of lightbulbs signs, to neon’s heyday in the 1930s-1940s, and on into the plastic era of the funky ‘50s. You’ll witness spinning Sputnick-like signs from the Jetsons period, and see hand-lettered showcards from the Las Vegas days of Frank Sinatra and Charo. You’ll also learn about neon - how it works and how you achieve different colors. Our mission is to celebrate the rich history of American signage through preservation and education.
